JOSEPH M. PELICH

General Partner

Joseph is a founding member of our firm and also acts as a General Partner. Joseph has served as the principle of multiple real estate development, construction and advisory firms. He has also acted as controller for a large regional construction and development firm located in Massachusetts. Joseph is an adjunct professor of Topics in Real Estate at Endicott College in Beverley, Massachusetts. Mr. Pelich holds his MLA with a concentration in finance from Harvard University, a BS in Business Administration with a concentration in accounting from Merrimack College and also holds a CSS from Harvard University.

SASHA S. WEINREICH

General Partner

Sasha is a founding member of our firm and also acts as a General Partner. Sasha has worked in several facets of real estate finance, management, and development, with experience in the commercial, multi-family, and senior housing spaces. She has also overseen the asset and property management of commercial and residential property in both core and suburban markets. Sasha received her MA in International Economics and Finance from Brandeis University, graduating summa cum laude, as well as her B.S. in Business Administration, with a concentration in finance and economics, from Babson College.

JOHN T. SMOLAK

Corporate Secretary, General Counsel

John serves as General Counsel and the Corporate Secretary for Great Pond. In addition to his responsibilities at Great Pond, Mr. Smolak is a founding member of the boutique real estate and environment firm of Smolak & Vaughan LLP. He is well known for his expertise in structuring public/private partnerships with state and local governments on behalf of developer clients for redevelopment projects, due diligence, and securing entitlements. These projects frequently involve federal and state tax incentives and subsidies for mixed use developments, retail properties, and urban redevelopment projects.  Prior to founding Smolak & Vaughan LLP, Mr. Smolak was a Partner and Co-Chair of the Real Estate and Environmental Practice in the Boston Office of Burns & Levinson LLP. Mr. Smolak received his J.D. from Boston College Law School, his M.P.A. from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs, and his B.S., summa cum laude, from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.

BRIAN G. VAUGHAN

General Counsel

Mr. Vaughan serves as General Counsel for Great Pond. Brian is a Partner and founding member of Smolak & Vaughan LLP in North Andover, a leading boutique real estate law firm in Northern Massachusetts.  Prior to forming Smolak & Vaughan in 2004, Brian practiced in a Massachusetts branch office for one of New Hampshire’s largest law firms, Devine, Millimet & Branch P.A. He was also previously a member of the real estate department with the Boston firm of Peabody & Arnold LLP.  He is admitted to practice in both Massachusetts and New Hampshire. Brian is a 1997 graduate of Boston College Law School.  He graduated Villanova University, with a B.S. in Business Administration with a Concentration in Finance, cum laude, 1990, and he is a 1986 graduate of Phillips Andover Academy.

LAURENCE P. NAUGHTON

Outside Counsel, Choate Hall & Stewart LLP

Mr. Naughton serves as outside counsel for Great Pond. He is a Practice Group Leader at Choate Hall & Stewart, LLP in their Boston location. Mr. Naughton has been listed in the Legal 500 as a leading attorney on the East Coast for mergers and acquisitions work, as well as in Chambers USA on multiple occasions as a leading lawyer in the areas of corporate law and mergers and acquisitions.  Irish America magazine selected him for their “Top Legal 100,” a list of the most influential Irish-Americans in the legal profession.  Mr. Naughton also has been listed as a Massachusetts Super Lawyer on multiple occasions. He has significant experience in the representation of private equity and venture capital funds in connection with their investment activities, including minority and growth equity investments, acquisitions, recapitalizations and dispositions. Mr. Naughton received his J.D., magna cum laude, from Boston College Law School in 1997, and his B.A. from the College of the Holy Cross in 1993.
